Does it frustrate you when you go to Google to search for something but the service just doesn’t use all the search terms you typed in, instead spitting out useless results? Or maybe you’ve been trying to find information, but all the best results are endlessly repetitive?
Mythbusters’ Adam Savage shares your pain – and has some wild words about the world’s biggest search engine.
In an episode dubbed a “laser printer rant,” he instead ripped into Google for making it impossible to find the information he wanted.
“The signal-to-noise ratio exceeded 1,” he said, referring to the unwanted Google results he saw.
Adam Savage was looking for a “large format laser printer”. Instead, the Google results he got were mostly low-quality ads and referral sites where product prices weren’t mentioned, sites he says are most likely generated in a way procedural. The few non-ad results were no better. Although he wanted a laser printer, the articles he saw were about inkjet plotters.
