Netflix is available in 190 different countries, but the catalog of movies and TV shows is different depending on the location. Have you ever wondered which country has the biggest and best collection of content? VPN service SurfShark conducted a study that produced several informative infographics on the volume and quality of Netflix catalogs around the world.
The study used data from the Netflix Flixwatch database to find out which titles are available in the site’s 70 countries. He then used IMDb ratings, Metacritic scores and awards for each title to determine which countries have the most content and which have the best titles.
SurfShark found that Netflix in the US has the most titles overall – 5,879 movies and shows – while Canada has the largest catalog of movies specifically, with 4,043 movies. However, having the biggest library does not mean having the best catalog: the United States and Canada actually have the lowest average IMDb rating (6.95), while Azerbaijan, Portugal, Georgia, Ukraine and Russia tied for first place with a score of 7.13.
South Korea, on the other hand, has the most prestigious catalog: 109 Oscar-winning films and 35 Emmy-winning shows. The country tops the competition with 24 more Oscar winners than the next nation, Switzerland. Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore each have 35 Emmy-winning titles in their collections.
India has perhaps the most balanced library in terms of quality and volume: it has the highest average IMDb viewership rating (7.12) among the top 10 countries with the most titles (5,591 ).

Although the United States has the most titles, they don’t have everything. But you may be able to access additional content by using a VPN. Just select a server in the right country and you’ll be able to access movies and shows you can’t watch in America. (Note that some services, such as Netflix, attempt to block VPN use by its customers.)
